Senior League Finals Day – 2026

Tuesday September 15th 2026

Yesterday, Newbattle played host for the annual Central and Lothians Retired Members League finals day. This is an annual tournament hosted by one of the Member clubs in rotation, and this was Newbattle’s turn, a privilege that only comes around every 10 years.

All 10 league teams were represented by a maximum of 15 team players competing for a team Stableford prize, and there were also prizes awarded for individual performances in 3 age categories.

We had a great day weather wise, and all the players were treated to a course in excellent condition. Our thanks go out to our Greens team and our volunteers for preparing the course so expertly.

Our Bar staff and Caterers were available from early morning right through the day until the last group came in and kept us all well fed and watered. Superb service – thanks to all.

Thanks too to our volunteer starters – especially to Jane Turner, one of our resident professional team who stepped in at the 11th hour to help set the later staters on their way. Thanks too to Callam, our head professional who had the painstaking task of stapling labels to 150+ cards!

The Overall Winner on the day – with  a remarkable 44 points – was John Fleming of Falkirk, whose score also helped to propel Falkirk to their overall team win.
