Finals Day – 2026

Tuesday June 23rd 2026

Finals day had, thankfully, beautiful weather for golf. While some of the qualifying matches has been played in frankly horrendous conditions, we were delighted to see that the sun shone for Finals day.

We had 8 championships altogether – and it’s a big day to organise. We cannot do it without the help and support of a number of people. On the day we would like to than all our volunteer referees, and our match starter. Thanks too to all the bar staff, and catering staff who were all were on hand to keep the players fed and watered and look after all the supporters who came down to watch and enjoy the finals day atmosphere.

The course was in great nick too, and our thanks go to the greens team, and our volunteers here who prepared the course so well.

Some of our winners are pictured here, although unfortunately our Junior champion, and our B and C class champions were unavailable for the picture.

The Results

Junior Final – Innes Reid beat, his brother, Gregor Reid
Ladies Final – Mo Cunningham picked up her 23rd Ladies title winning against Lorna Lettice
Ladies Bronze Final – Mary Cowan prevailed against Ann Cockburn
Seniors Final – Dean Brock in his 3rd final in a row, picked up his 2nd Seniors title beating Malcolm Thomson on the 19th hole
C Class Final  – Bob Martin beat Allan Young
B Class Final – Archie Wylie beat James Birkmyre
A Class Final – Mike O’Rourke beat Davy Linn

And in the Men’s 36-hole Championship Final John Nisbet beat Ally Dougall in an excellent contest between 2 players, each in their first final appearance but no doubt with more to come.

So, another year’s champions have been crowned, and we would once again like to thank everyone who contributed to the day’s success, whether as a player, a supporter, a  referee, a starter, a volunteer or a member of one of the key teams who always support Newbattle; whether that be Greens, Bar, Catering or Professional shop.

If it wasn’t you in a final this year – there’s always next year!!
