Gents Senior Open Texas Scramble

It was a lovely sunny day for our inaugural Senior 2-man scramble.

Our thanks go out to all our staff and volunteers who made the day a success, from the green staff who prepared the course to an excellent standard, to the guys in the pro shop for setting us all away, to our volunteer starters, and of course to our catering team and bar staff who kept us fed and watered throughout the day.

We hope that everyone enjoyed their day, and hope to welcome you all back next year.

Gents Silloth results

Thanks to everyone who participated in this years invitational Silloth competition, which took place over both days of this weekend (3rd and 4th August)

Silloth is a great event that welcomes guests from other clubs.

There were some terrific scores on both days and the list of winners is attached – 6 handicap and 2 scratch prizes were awarded – congratulations to all. Over Saturday and Sunday 2 holes in one were achieved, the 3rd on Saturday and the 8th on Sunday. Well done to John Thomson (Haddington) on the Saturday and Greig Brown (Kings Acre) on the Sunday.

Many thanks to all those who helped on both days; with a special call out to Jim Bunce, Dino Cramond and Ian Sneddon for their over the weekend. Also thanks to Lorna, Nikki and their teams for the service on the course and in the clubhouse.

Jim and his green staff, the visitors could not have complemented the course any higher. We will all agree the course is in great condition given the busy period faced with the Pro Day, Gents Senior Open and the Silloth all in the space of a week. Thank you all.

And, here are the results – many congratulations to all the winners. All vouchers are held under the winning members names for you to share. Also any sweep money for 2s can be picked up in the pro shop.

After the year we have had weather wise, it was great to see two days of glorious sunshine for the Gents Senior Open. Some of the scoring over the 2 days was excellent and I think you will agree the course looked great. The feedback we received on the days was excellent and our thanks go to Jim and his greens team for their hard work.

We hope all participants enjoyed their day and we hope to see many of you back next year. A lot of you have told us you would definitely be back which is great to hear.

Many thanks to all the bar and catering staff, for their service over the day. Also many thanks go out to the staff in the pro shop and the volunteers which helped with starting all the players across the 2 days. We could not put these events on without your support.

Prizes are awarded for the top 7 handicap scores, and for the top two scratch scores in each age category (where any player qualifies for a prize in both scratch and handicap, only the higher award is paid, with the smaller prize moving onto the next best player in the relevant category).

The morning dawned grey, but dry, and so it continued throughout the day except for a minor light smattering of rain mid-afternoon which came to nothing and progressed to a sunny evening.
Thank you to all the helpers at the check-in desk, the card checkers, Pro Shop, Starters, Bar Staff, Catering Staff and not forgetting the Green Staff which had the course turned out to perfection, resulted in many glowing reports from the players about the condition of the course and the fact that they had had a good day out with refreshments before and after playing. Many also commented on having a Starter which they enjoyed and for those who had never played the course before, found very helpful.
Our Charities this year are based in the very local area to the golf club in the form of The Community Pantry as well as the Mayfield and Easthouses Development Trust (MAEDT) to provide support and activities for the residents. We raised £212 today towards these groups. Thank you to the ladies for all their raffle donations to make this all possible.
The list of prize winners is attached and vouchers will be sent out direct to them. The net score listing is also attached for information.
